Critical + 2.0. Cannabis Strain Grow Journal 1

Yep, thirteen days. That’s how long it’s been since I was posting about this Critical + 2.0. Cannabis Strain. It has already started branching without any help from me. It too has been attacked by leaf miners. If you are following the Wild Thailand journal also, you know they were hit by them as well. See: Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain Grow Journal

Critical + 2.0. Cannabis Strain 2I am not going to be cloning this strain. I have more seeds of it, I love the smell and taste. It’s just that this is an indica dominant strain and unless we have a dry couple months, it’s not going to do well enough to have more of them. It’s just a little something different.

Critical + 2.0. Cannabis Strain 1

Until we meet again, be well. This Critical + 2.0. Cannabis Strain Grow Journal 1 post is done. There is just not much to say.

Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain Grow Journal 1

It has been thirteen days since my las… Since is started this Wild Thailand Cannabis strain grow journal. There have been changes in these days as I’m sure you can imagine. Bigger pots, lots of growth, an infestation of leaf miners. Well, I don’t what the heck they really are. I just call them leaf miners cause they leave trails. If you know, feel free to share.

Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain 2Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain 1

Never grown this Wild Thailand Cannabis strain before. Not really sure what to expect, well, but for the stories, I have seen published online. Seems to grow pretty quick. No real major issues to talk about. Ya know, it’s just too early in the growth to have much to say.

Cloning Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain 1Cloning Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain 2

The biggest thing I guess I would say needs to be reported in the Wild Thailand Cannabis strain journal is that I cut the top off to clone it this morning. It’s a little exciting. Again, having no idea what to expect as far as the ease of cloning. You know, you might be surprised at how hard some cannabis strains are to clone. Let’s all hope that the Wild Thailand Cannabis strain is not one of the hard ones.

Cannabis Cookies aka Cookies With Cannabis In Them

Cannabis cookies, who don’t love them?  It seems like it’d be such a pisser to have to make cannabutter, then make cookies. It’s really all that bad. In the end, you have the cookies with cannabis in them. So there is that.

For the Holmgrown Farm cannabis cookies, I took 28 grams of kick-ass Colombian Gold, 1 pound of unsalted butter, a crockpot, and boom. “28 grams in only 1 cup of butter?? Isn’t that too much?” is the most common question I have been asked by friends when talking about them. But, I ask you, is there really a too much limit? It’s not like you HAVE to eat a whole cookie. It is OK to only eat fractions of a cookie if need be, no? Well here is my photo story of the latest batch of Holmgrown Farm Cannabis cookies.

Making Cannabutter 1making cannabutter 2

I forgot to mention that I always grind my cannabis then decarboxylate it. I find this to be the way that produces the strongest cannabutter for me. I also should tell you that I use the same method to make coconut oil infused with cannabis as well. I also have found over the years that if you leave Jerry Garcia to watch over the decarboxylation, it does so without issue. I didn’t have Jerry watching over a batch I did a couple months back. There were issues from start to finish.

making cannabutter 3cannabutter

I like to make my cannabutter by the old method’s. Butter, water, bud. I have heard of people putting other things in the butter to cause your body to absorb the THC faster. It’s just not me. I put the water and butter in a crockpot, add cannabis when almost all butter melted. cover and simmer all day… Really, 12 hours. All day.

making cannabis cookies 1making cannabis cookies 3

Following any generic chocolate chip cookie recipe, I alter it a wee bit with mini chocolate chips and mini M&Ms. Another absolute must when making cannabis cookies is that you lick the beaters, bowl, etc. when done.

making cannabis cookies 4making cannabis cookies 5

After the raw cookie dough and more than a couple bong hits. It is with more than a little embarrassment that I tell you I got really, really high thereby causing me to not a photograph them. I will tell you now though. lol, I take the raw cookie dough and separate it into two equal gobs. I then take each gob and roll it in wax paper making a 15-inch log out of each gob of goo. I place them in the icebox for about 90 minutes allowing them to harden.

cannabis cookies 3cannabis cookies 1

Then I pull the logs out and slice them with a very sharp knife about 1/2 inch in width. I also try to always use parchment paper when cooking the cookies. It’s not really needed I guess, just my thing. Another thing I hear as a suggestion for making cannabis cookies is to cook them at 325f. I assume this is to keep the THC or CBD from cooking off. I have tried it. I could not tell the difference between the normal 375f cooked ones and the 325f cooked ones as far as strength goes. I will say that the 325f cooked cookies do not keep as well as the 375f ones.

cannabis cookies 2cannabis cookies 5

Let me tell you about this batch of cookies. I had one whole cookie and for 4 hours I was the highest I had been since the last batch of cookies. I spent four hours being silly and laughing my butt off! My eyes went red so there was no white. After fours hours, I became very mellow. people around me at the time said I looked drunk. At this point, I felt myself falling over on the couch like a tree being chopped and I really didn’t care. Passed out asleep at the moment I hit the couch…

And there ya have it. Cannabis Cookies aka Cookies With Cannabis In Them. Now excuse me while I go have 1/2 a cookie.lol

Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain Grow Journal

Here we go with the very first post of the Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain Grow Journal. This was the winner of the Holmgrown Farm poll: Help Choose What Cannabis Strain We Start Poll It was a very successful poll. I had a whopping one vote. lol

Wild Thailand cannabis seed sprouted

Have you ever seen what the breeder says about this strain? Their description will make ya wanna fly to Thailand just to smoke this cannabis!

Wild ThailandWild Thailand

She’s one of Thailand’s most productive strains and has a relatively short flowering cycle for a pure Thai Sativa. Very vigorous, sometimes uncontrollable growth. If grown in a pot, leave plenty of room for the root zone to develop for optimum yields. Like the authentic Thai she is, her taste and smell will bring Asia to your palate while her effect will spirit you away to the indescribable temples of Bangkok.”

Critical + 2.0. Cannabis Strain Grow Journal

Here is the first post of my newly founded Critical + 2.0. Cannabis strain grow Journal.

Critical + 2.0 Cannabis Strain

This Critical + 2.0. Cannabis seed is one of the seeds that came the day New Cannabis Seeds Fell Outta The Sky. on me. I know its more of an Indica than a Sativa. I like to grow landrace sativas more than an Indicas. But I do enjoy an Indica high. It’s the best for Movies… I’m getting off track.

So, outta all the aforementioned cannabis seeds, I choose to plant the Critical + 2.0. Cannabis strain. Why? For one I have grown it here on Holmgrown Farm before when I first came to Hawaii. It was a dry summer and the Critical + 2.0. Cannabis strain grew very well! Maybe, it will be dry enough for a period to get a decent harvest from her.

Also, look at what the breeder say about them: “On top of that, Critical + 2.0 will not knock us down with its effect, despite it having a 20% THC content. It has a powerful but relaxing effect, which will be the ideal complement to those days when day-to-day problems accumulate. It is highly recommended to get rid of stress and relax quietly at home. Its Indica predominance will give us a mild narcotic and soothing effect, more physical than mental, providing a long and extremely comforting sensation

PLANT DATA:

Who, the heck does not want a High like that??? As a previous proud grower/user of the Critical + 2.0. Cannabis strain bud, I can tell ya it will get you dancing around a room to the Grateful Dead’s “Cosmic Charlie” playing on the speakers like very few other cannabis strain highs have before.

Outdoor Cannabis Grow Rainy Edition

outdoor cannabis grow rainy editionThat is just what this post is a outdoor cannabis grow rainy edition. It has been raining here so much since my last post that it has become very hard to get the inspiration to sit here on my phone and create a new post. I can’t really blame it all on the rain. Lol, I have to give due credit to the fruits of all my hard labor all summer. Yes, that is code for saying I have been smoking a lot of cannabis in the evenings here on Holmgrown Farm.

cannabis bud bubble hash joint

I’m sure that you know (if you have been following) that in my last post: ##### I had just made a buttload of bubble hash. Well, I have been smoking some of it, but not a lot as it’s mostly for cooking. I am a healthy human, I full melt bubble hash. I like it in my bong. Enjoy it much in my volcano. But,  I just love it in a joint mixed with bud. I find it so cool when it’s in a joint, it melts to an oil. I honestly only need one or two good hits from a joint. See photo below.

cannabis bud bubble hash joint

Should I also write about all the magnificent bud that I have harvested? I don’t mind telling you that I have had more than a few great hits over the past 10 days. I wanna repeat how great it is not to have 20 cannabis plants to attend for a while. As nice as it is, it’s only a 3, maybe 4 months break.

Columbian Gold Joint

I do have more seedlings going. I want to take this moment to encourage you to follow 2 Cannabis grow journals I have started with 2 different strains. I had posted to a post previously… (posted to a post? lol) about the Cannabis grow journal for the Wild Thailand Cannabis Strain, But I wanna tell you about the Critical + 2.0. cannabis strain grow journal. Make sure to follow them!

Making Bubble Hash For Hawaiian Lazy Season

This time of year here on Holmgrown Farm is always the lazy season. Because we never grow more than a couple small plants over the winter months. Sadly, there is not really much reason to do so. If you saw the post: Cannabis Plants Rotated,  you know that my issue is not temperature but? That’s right, direct sunlight.

Making Bubble HashMaking Bubble Hash 4

It is nice to have the break from the work involved with caring for a cannabis garden. It is a good time to go do all the tourist things on the island due to a lower tourist population. It is also a great time to play mad scientist. I have Cookies, Candies, Oils, cannabis-infused coffee, pills… Oh, I could go on. You get the idea though. I have buttload loads of trimmings and leaf to play with. I also always start in my mad scientist persona by making Bubble Hash.

Making Bubble Hash 2Making Bubble Hash 3

Making Bubble Hash for Hawaiian lazy season in my mad scientist person is the coolest. lol, I am going to continue with the assumption, you reading this, means you know what bubble Hash is. If you do not know. Look it up online. I mostly use Bubble Hash for cooking. I do admit that I enjoy a big chunk of hash in a hooka too. For candies, I just dissolve the hash in 200 proof alcohol, evaporate by half then pour into the candy mix. Works like a champ. I also get a fairly good distribution throughout the mix of cannabis.

Making Bubble Hash 5Making Bubble Hash 6

When I make butter or coconut oil for cookies, I just crumble up what I am adding and make cannabis butter as per normal methods. I like doing it this way because it keeps the butter from turning green. Not really a big fan of green cookies. to me at least, when you have a green butter, you have a green tasting cookie.

Making Bubble Hash 10Making Bubble Hash 7

I also take the bud from the harvest to make Co2 oil. I am going to leave all that mess for another time. I do want to say that making cannabis-infused stuff with Co2 oil is the bestest thing in the world. It is so perfect you just add a drop or 2 to anything! A Camel Light/Blue with a drop of oil is pure magic.

Making Bubble Hash 8Making Bubble Hash 9

Back to making Bubble Hash. It is a pretty simple method. ice, cannabis, water, screens. I use some kinda bubble bag. I really know not what brand. They have the normal range of screened bottom bags, 220, 160, 90, 73, 45, 25. I am not going to get all into the whole procedure of making bubble hash.  So, I am just going to post the photos and end my Making Bubble Hash For Hawaiian Lazy Season post. Aloha

Cannabis Plants Rotated

The planned Rotation of Cannabis plants has been completed. All Cannabis plants rotated with no major issues. Due to it coming on the winter months here in Hawaii, I will be retiring many of the garden beds for the winter. Although there is a year-round growing season in Hawaii, the shorter days of the winter months do not produce as good of bud as in the summer with the longer days. In the winter months, bud production is normally 30 – 40% less than what production is during all other months.

Oldest Photo of Garden

Cannabis Garden Rotation 1

There are a couple of factors that make this loss of sunlight here on Holmgrown Farm. One must first remember that Holmgrown Farm is in the middle of an Ohia forest. There is only any sunlight here at all because of the clearing for the garden beds. Being that its the middle of a forest, The way the sun moves over the garden changes from summer to winter drastically.

Cannabis Garden Rotation 2

During the summer, we get appx. 13.5 hours of daylight. The sun moves over the garden by coming up in the northeast and setting in the west. Moving this direction it sends a steady constant 9 hours of direct sunlight to the garden beds before being filtered by trees. That’s as good as can be expected in the middle of a forest.

Cannabis Garden Rotation 3

In the winter months, we get appx. 11 hours of daylight The sun moves over the garden by coming up in the East and setting in the south-south-east. With this movement of the sun over the garden, the plants only get appx. 5 hours of direct sunlight before being filtered by trees.

Cannabis Garden Rotation 4

It is not that Holmgrown Farm does not grow during the winter months. Obviously, this post is about 2 new plants put outside to bud. With 12 hours of direct light being best for bud production and the application of a little basic math, you can see why the bud production drops off so much during winter months. No sugar coating here. 5 hours of direct light really is not worth a lot when it comes to bud production. You still get a great tight, stinky, sticky, bud. The buds just have no real weight or size to them. It’s just not worth all the work caring for a lot of plants only to reap so little. Just a couple of plants are cool it’s perfect, a fresh harvest in the winter is nice. It’s just not worth it to grow many more.
